2012 Hyundai i20

The 2012 Hyundai i20 – revealed at Geneva in March with a new nose and economy tweaks  - will cost from £9,995.

Hyundai revealed a facelift for the i20 at the Geneva Motor Show last month which consisted of a new family nose and some tweaks under the bonnet to deliver improved economy and emissions. And now Hyundai has put a price on the facelifted i20 and details of the specifications.

Starting at £9,995 for the 1.2 3dr and rising to £14,295 for the 1.4 CRDi 90PS 5dr, perhaps the most impressive change is the new 1.1 CRDi 74bhp i20 Blue that delivers just 84g/km, making it the least emitting car on sale (silly EV and hybrid figures discounted). It also manages 88.3mpg

Hyundai are offering one other diesel in the i20, the 89bhp 1.4 litre, which offers 76.3mpg and 96g/km which would, were it not for the incredible figures on the 1.1 Blue, be an impressive eco version of the i20.

Petrol engines on offer are the 1.2 litre with 84bhp, 57.6mpg and 114g/km and the 1.4 litre petrol. with a more lively 99bhp, which returns 54.3mpg and emits 122g/km.

Trim options are Classic, Blue, Active and Style with even Classic getting AirCon, remote locking, USB and AUX, adjustable steering  and electric windows. Only available in 1.2 petrol guise it’s a decent entry-level option.

The i20 Blue gets the eco stuff like Stop-Start and low rolling resistance tyres but sadly forsakes AirCon in the process, and Active spec throws in 15″ alloys, Fogs, Bluetooth, heated electric mirrors and voice activation.

Top of the tree i20 Style trim gets 16″ alloys, LED running lights, auto lights and wipers, parking sensors and Climate. Available only as a 5dr with either petrol engine or the 1.4 litre diesel.

The 2012 Hyundai i20 goes on sale in May.
