The Lexus GS range arrives in the UK from £32,995

Prices and model detail for the 2012 Lexus GS have been revealed by Lexus UK. Starts at £32,995 for the GS 250 SE.

We got the debut of the 2012 Lexus GS at Pebble Beach last Summer, and now Lexus are ready to roll the new GS out in the UK we’ve got model and price detail for the much improved GS range.

Entry point – something we’re not used to with the old one-engine hybrid option on the old model GS – is the GS 250 SE, which comes with a more than decent spec including 17″ alloys, heated and cooled electric front seats, Bi-Xenons with LED running lights, auto lights and wipers, Keyless and Cruise.

The 2.5 litre V6 VVT-i petrol lump in the GS 250 seems promising enough, with 206bhp at its disposal, although it’s a shame Lexus hasn’t bitten the bullet and dropped a diesel version in to the new GS range. No doubt the GS 250 will find fleet buyers, but a diesel GS would have been a much bigger seller.

Next up from the SE spec is the the Luxury – which you can have with either as the GS 250 or GS 450h – and adds 18″ alloys, parking sensors, HDD SatNav and blind spot detection.

Perhaps the most appealing model is the GS F Sport, not because it gets more power – it doesn’t – but it gets better looking and better handling.

Opt for the F Sport – which will cost you £39,995 for the GS 250 F Sport and £50,995 for the GS 450h – and you get a much more interesting car. Top of the list of appealing extras is the Lexus Adaptive Variable Suspension and selectable drive modes.

Opt for the 450h F Sport and you’ll aslo get Dynamic Handling System, Dynamic Rear Steering, electric power steering, Variable Gear Ratio Steering and Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management.

In terms of looks and kit, the F Sport gets 19″ alloys, boot spoiler, sports bumpers and the sports grill. Inside there’s sports pedals, sports steering wheel and gear knob and extra adjustment on the electric driver’s seat.

If a touch of sybaritic soothing is more up your street than driving dynamics, sporty looks and better handling, then the GS 450h Premier is probably the model to opt for. Lexus has thrown most of its option list at the Premier model – including the same adaptive suspension, selectable drive modes and B-Xenons as the F Sport.

Inside the 450h Premier you get semi-aniline leather, three way climate, Mark Levinson Sound, boot closing, sunblinds for the back windows and tyre pressure warning.

There are nine exterior colours for SE Luxury and Premier models - Arctic Pearl, Sonic Silver, Velvet Black, Mercury Grey, Meteor Blue, Crimson Red, Atlantic Blue, Celestial Black plus Obsidian Black for the GS 450h only – with the F Sport getting its own colour palette -  Arctic Pearl, Sonic Silver, Velvet Black, Mercury Grey and Crimson Red.

The complete 2012 Lexus GS range is now available to order, with first UK cars expected in June.
