2012 SEAT Ibiza Facelift

The 2012 Facelift for the SEAT Ibiza has been revealed, with new styling for the interior and exterior and a revised engine line-up.

We may not actually get a public debut of the 2012 SEAT Ibiza until the Geneva Motor Show in March, but SEAT are previewing that public debut with details of the facelift and photos of the new Ibiza.

All three body styles for the Ibiza get facelifted – the three-door SC, five-door hatch and Ibiza Estate (ST) – with the most immediately noticeable feature being a nose that looks like it came from the SEAT IBX Concept we saw at Geneva last year and which looks set to be the new face of SEAT.

That new look is pulled off with a new grill, bigger lower intake and new headlights. Out back the Ibiza gets a new bumper and there are new alloys. Inside there’s a more upmarket feel (SEAT say, although they’ve sent us no interior photos) and there’s a new climate control system.

Petrol engines on offer in the Ibiza are the 1.2 litre with 59bhp, the 1.2 TSI with 104bhp and the 1.4 litre TSI with a more appealing 148bhp. If you prefer an oil-burner there’s the 1.2 litre TDI with 74bhp – which may not fly but uses very little fuel – or if you actually want to get somewhere there’s the 2.0 litre TDI with 141bhp. Depending on model you can opt for a seven-speed DSG ‘box instead of the regular six-speed manual.

No news on prices, but the 2012 SEAT Ibiza will debut at Geneva in March on go on sale in the UK in the Spring.
