UK prices revealed for the 2012 Subaru XV

Following a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2012 Subaru XV is now ready to go on sale in the UK. Starts at £21,295.

Subaru debuted the new XV Crossover at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September, preceded by a rather pointless tease. Pointless because the Subaru XV Concept had been revealed six months before at the Shanghai Motor show and, apart from a very small number of concept fripperies, the production Subaru looked just the same.

In essence the Subaru XV is a high-riding crossover version of the Impreza, with the addition of a few bits of plastic cladding and is aimed at the compact SUV market.

The engines on offer in the UK are a 1.6 litre petrol with 112bhp and a 2.0 litre with 148bhp, with both petrol models getting auto Stop-Start. There’s also a 2.0 litre diesel with 145bhp and a healthy 258lb/ft of torque. That’s enough to get the XV to 60mph in 9.3 seconds and return an average of 50.4mpg. Gearbox options are a five or six-speed manual or a six-speed auto, and all models get Subaru’s AWD system.

Trim levels are S, SE and SE Lux Premium, with the entry-level XV S getting 17″ alloys, LED running lights, Climate and Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control. Jumping to SE trim adds Cruise, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity and a rear view camera, whilst the range-topping XV Lux Premium gets Keyless, Sunroof. Leather and SatNav. Opt for the 2.0 litre and you’ll get roof rails regardless of the trim level.

Prices start at £21,295 for the Subaru XV 1.6i S rising to £29,795 for the XV 2.0D SE Lux Premium.
