2013 Audi RS 5 convertible pricing announced

Wed, 20 Mar 2013

The convertible version of the Audi RS 5 arrives at U.S. dealers in April -- just in time for the warm weather -- and will carry a sticker price of $78,795 including shipping charges.

RS 5 fans who have been waiting for a convertible option will also appreciate the lack of a gas-guzzler tax on this top performer. EPA estimates say the RS 5 Cabriolet achieves 16 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg combined.

In addition to offering open-air driving, the RS 5's gas pedal is sure to pack a powerful punch backed by the 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque its 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine delivers.

To complement this powerhouse, Audi is using a seven-speed double clutch transmission with launch control. Combined these systems take the RS 5 from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

The RS 5 also houses plenty of luxury comforts. To maximize top-down driving time the car has climate-controlled seating that can be either warmed or cooled. For cooler days there are optional neck-level heating vents.

The convertible top opens in 15 seconds, closes in 17 seconds and performs either action at speeds up to 30 mph.

Cargo space is a bit limited at 13.42 cubic feet (minus 2.12 cubic feet when the top is down), but the divided rear seats can be folded down to provide more space.

Exterior modifications include restructured LED light strips that give the headlights and taillights a more dramatic look, a redesigned rear bumper and a body color spoiler lip atop the trunk lid for added downforce.
