2013 Ford Fiesta production starts

Mon, 12 Nov 2012

Ford has started to build the new 2013 Fiesta at their plant in Cologne which means the new Fiesta will be in a showroom near you soon.

The facelift for the 2013 Fiesta sees the arrival of the ‘Aston Martin’ grill bolted to the front of the new Fiesta – a pitch for the AM Cygnet contract, perhaps – together with new headlights with LED running lights and a bulge up the bonnet. Small changes, but they do make the new Fiesta bolder, even though it loses some of its finesse in the process.

Engine news for the new Fiesta is the arrival of the impressive 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine we’ve already seen in the Focus – and which will also be available in the 2014 Mondeo, assuming that ever arrives – and a new 1.5 litre diesel engine. In total, Ford will offer a total of seven powertrains with emissions under 100g k/m.

Inside, the new Fiesta gets just minor tweaks to the trim and switchgear, but Ford has added Ford Sync for connectivity on the go and MyKey which allows parents to control what their kids get up to behind the wheel by limiting speed and audio volume.

The entry-level 2013 Fiesta Studio kicks off at £9,795 and the range-topping Fiesta Titanium X starts at £15,845. The new Fiesta ST won’t arrive until Spring 2013.
