2013 Mercedes SL gets AMG Sport models

Wed, 01 May 2013

It’s not much more than a year since the new Mercedes SL arrived, but that’s not stopping Mercedes UK giving the range a bit of a makeover for 2013 / 2014.

Both the SL 350 and SL 500 get a bit of an AMG makeover with the arrival of the AMG Sports Package for the SL range. That means a set of 19″ AMG alloys, lowered sports suspension, AMG body kit with new front and rear aprons and side sills, better brakes on the SL 350 and a boot lip.

Mercedes has also tweaked the 7G-Tronic ‘box with modified change points in ‘S’ mode, thrown in perforated front seats with white designo piping, a sports steering wheel and AMG mats, an electric glass roof, Parktronic and Park Assist, a total of £6,625 worth of extra goodies.

As well as the extra toys, Mercedes has also tweaked the paint and trim offerings, with five metallic and one solid colour included in the price (including trendy Polar white) and two new colours available at extra cost, including the new Hyacinth Red (£690), black leather is standard with Bengal Red or Porcelain nappa leather (£710) an option and the trim is Light Brushed Aluminium with Black Ash Wood (£345) an option.

As well as tweaking the SL 350 and SL 500, Mercedes has added an electric panoramic glass roof to the SL 63 AMG as well as Parktronic with Park Assist – which would have cost you £1500 – but have left the more recently arrived SL 65 AMG unchanged.

The Mercedes SL 350 AMG Sport costs from £69,960, the SL 500 AMG Sport from £79,970 and the SL 63 AMG from £110,785. And if you need to know how much the SL 65 AMG costs, you can’t afford it.

The revised SL models will be available from June production dates.
