2013 Nissan Pathfinder arrives – but not for the UK & Europe

Thu, 02 Aug 2012

Nissan has revealed a new, slicker Pathfinder for 2013, but the UK and Europe won’t be getting it.

Nissan started teasing the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder even before the old year ended, with plans to show a concept at the Detroit Show in January. Which they did.

And now the self-same Pathfinder, with almost no changes from the concept at Detroit, has arrived as the new Pathfinder for 2013 – but only in the US.

We had expected that Nissan would update the UK and Europe’s very boxy Pathfinder with the new, slicker, smoother Pathfinder design, but it seems not. And maybe that’s a good thing.

Maybe it’s a good thing because the new Pathfinder loses its off-road credentials by moving from the traditional body on frame solution for off-road prowess to a unibody construction.

The 2013 Pathfinder will also get bigger as, effectively, it’s an Infiniti JX under the skin, the posh MPV Nissan insists is a crossover in the States. And maybe – at 6″ longer than a Discovery, that’s just too big for UK roads.

So we soldier on with the current Nissan Pathfinder, which is a perfectly decent car if it wasn’t for one thing. The Land Rover Discovery.
