2014 Audi RS7 tuned to 700 hp

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Most would consider the performance offered by the Audi RS7 to be plenty, whether they live close to a derestricted autobahn or not. But it wasn't enough for Audi tuner ABT Sportsline, who just introduced their own take on the 2014 RS7. The stock RS7 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 mated to an eight-speed transmission, good for 552 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. These are impressive figures. Who would have thought there was still room for improvement?

ABT Sportsline is no stranger to building Audis with eye-watering performance figures. In the last three months alone, they've unveiled their 700-hp RS6 Avant, a 300-hp Volkswagen Golf GT Dark and taken the 286-hp diesel AS6 sedan to SEMA. Yes, that third car boasts just 286-hp courtesy of a tuned 3.0-liter turbo diesel, with ABT Sportsline apparently deciding to start off easy in the States, lest we get scared off by the performance of some of their hotter cars.

The visual tweaks to the RS7 have stayed rather modest.

And their RS7 happens to be one of their hotter cars--it now boasts 666-hp and 612 lb-ft of torque in ABT Power flavor, or 700-hp and 649-lb-ft of torque in Power S flavor. That's enough to get the RS7 up to 198 mph, assuming one can find a place to reach those speeds. The bump-in power is achieved through ABT Sportsline's own engine-control unit, though a custom stainless steel exhaust system helps as well.

The range of exterior upgrades has been kept limited; this car is more about go rather than show. Even so, a carbon-fiber spoiler is offered, along with integrated entrance lights in the shape of the ABT Sportsline's logo, in addition to ABT's own embroidered floor mats. The car also receives a choice of 20-inch and 21-inch alloy wheel with spacers for a wider track. So if you're not into showy body kits, this car could even be mistaken for being completely stock. And we think that's the way ABT Sportsline likes it. No word yet on the total cost of all the upgrades for this model.
