The new Kia Sorento – debuts at Paris 2014
The 2015 Kia Sorento is being rolled out a bit at a time as Kia try to garner as many column inches for their new SUV as possible. The new Sorento was actually revealed a few weeks ago, but there were just a couple of photos of the new Kia and limited details. But now, with a debut at the Paris Motor Show in just over a month, Kia have been more forthcoming with detail and photos.
Taking its design inspiration from the Kia Cross GT – but with clear influences from the current Sorento too – the new Sorento does look more appealing and sleeker, and it’s bigger too with an extra 80mm in the wheelbase offering proper room for up to seven.
The much stiffer new Sorento promises a better quality ride than before and comes with plenty of technology too, including Active Cruise, Front Collision Assist and Lane Departure Warning, and sound insulation is much improved for a quieter cabin.
Under the skin, the new Sorento gets improved steering feel (by relocating the motor), more effective damping and a choice of engines, although the default in the UK will be the 2.2 litre diesel.
Kia still hasn’t revealed trim options and full specifications, and nor have they decided how much the new Sorento will be. But it should start at under £28k when it arrives in the UK early 2015.
