4th Maier S. Coop Design Competition

The 4th Maier S. Coop Design Competition has been launched, open to both students and professionals. The brief calls for a graphic expression of a Color & Trim trends study showcasing the finishes of a vehicles exterior and interior.

Entrants of the contest are asked to choose from one of the following four themes: Excitement, Multi-sensorial, Mobility or Responsibility.

The idea is to design and carefully select the materials to be used over the front façade of the vehicle dashboard, grab bar of the vehicle door panel, frontal module of the vehicle, as well as the vehicle door uprights.

Entrants are also expected to pay attention to the 'levels' when designing their entry. The levels are reference to the use of the car be it Leisure, Family or Travel.

The deliverables from contestants are expected to include an A3 board that outlines the collection of sample materials that shows how to create the Color & Trim trends described in the brief Design with Materials.

With prize money of over €15,000 for the top three, as well as an awards ceremony – set to take place on June 2011 at the AIC Automotive Intelligence Center in Amorebieta, Spain – the organizers are urging people to enter, with the competition drawing to a close on 29th April 2011.
