Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde gets a tweak and a tickle

2011 Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde - cosmetic tweaks & new toys

The Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde already sits at the top of the very appealing MiTo range, but that hasn’t stopped Alfa spreading more Alfa goodness across its bows for the new 2011 model year cars.

Don’t get too excited that the tickles include power upgrades – they don’t. But when the MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde already boasts one of the best Alfa engines for a long time – the 1.4-litre TB Multiair – that’s not too much of a disappointment.

Because the 1.4-litre TB Multiair, despite its small capacity, manages to scoot to 60mph in under 7 seconds thanks to a very useful 168bhp being on tap – and usable.

So the changes are cosmetic, but worthwhile nonetheless. There’s a more attractive set of alloys – up from 17″ to 18″ – and the lower, more aggressive-looking air intakes and fogs look a lot like the 8C – praise indeed.

Alfa has stuffed carbon fibre inside the MiTo Quadrifoglio for cuteness and lightness. The seat backs are now carbon fibre (lighter) and trimmed with leather and Alcantara, whilst the dashboard gets lashings of the stuff too (cuteness).

More toys come as part of the upgraded Quadrifoglio package including Cruise, Bluetooth, parking sensors and a rear spoiler. There’s also posh kickplates and sports pedals and the tailpipes get a coating of chrome.

All round more goodness for what is already a terrific little Alfa. Sadly, you’ll be paying for the extra goodies to a degree as Alfa are shoving the MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde price up to £18,755 – an £800 increase.

The MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde release date is the end of this month, after a public debut this weekend at Goodwood FoS .

Still worth having – even at £800 more.
