Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa débuts at Villa D'Este

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo. That’s 100 years of creating automotive art. And to celebrate there’s a plethora of Alfa Romeo related stuff going on to commemorate the anniversary, from Alfa headlining at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed to the concepts that Alfa showed at the Geneva Motor Show.

But this is one of the best ways to commemorate the 100 years of Alfa – a modern recreation of all that Alfa does best wrapped up in a 21st century TZ (Tubolare Zagato) - the one-off Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, created for  German collector Martin Kapp to honour 100 years of racing across the whole 20th century.

The TZ3 Corsa stays faithful to the history of the TZ1 – first seen in 1963 and winner of the 1964 Sebring 12 hour race in its first season of racing - and the TZ2 – the last purpose built racer from Alfa – although one thing that is very different bis what underpins the TZ3 – the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

That means that this Alfa TZ sports a big, powerful V8 under its retro body, whic is actually far from retro with aluminum bodywork stretched over a tube frame and carbon-fiber chassis.

Stop salivating.
