All-new 2015 Kia Sorento teased

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Is this the face of the all-new Kia Sorento? According to the Kia blog kia-world.net it is, with the car set to make its debut in Korea later this year, ahead of a full European reveal at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Expect the stylish, angular design to be toned down

These initial artist’s impressions are based on the spy shots doing the rounds on the internet earlier this year, with the new Sorento seemingly destined to look every inch like the Kia Sportage’s big brother, a car which itself was treated to a mid-life refresh in March.

2015 Kia Sorento: familiar 'tiger nose' grille

The front is dominated by Kia’s now familiar 'tiger nose' grille, with the renderings also suggesting new, narrower, swept-back headlights, with LED daytime running lights and fog lamps. Around the back, we’re not expecting a revolution, although the new Sorento is likely to be styled in a way that visually gives a lower and wider stance than before.

If it looks this good in reality, with its roof spoiler and dual exhaust system, we’ll be delighted. But we fully expect the final design to be toned down for launch.

European debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show

Further details of the new Kia Sorento are thin on the ground, but a Korean launch in September is possible. We can therefore look forward to a European debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.

A mild hybrid could bring a 20% boost in performance

The all-new car is likely to be longer than the current generation seven-seat Sorento, with Kia confirming that it will share its platform with the new Hyundai Santa Fe. This should provide greater space for passengers in the second and third row of seats, further improving practicality and access.

As witnessed in the all-new Kia Soul, we’d expect a massive step-up in terms of interior quality, too, with an updated infotainment system and multimedia display.

2015 Kia Sorento: up to 15% more efficient

Kia is also promising as much as a 15% increase in efficiency from the new range of petrol and diesel engines that will be on offer, while a mild hybrid system could result in a 20% boost in performance.

As with all current Kia models, the Sorento will be offered with one of the firm’s key selling points: a full seven-year warranty.
