The Aston Martin Cygnet Launch Editions - in black or white with bespoke luggage

We’ve know that Aston Martin were intent on transforming the Toyota iQ in to the Aston Martin City Car. Initially that meant a small Aston for existing Aston owners, but it soon became clear that Aston Martin intended the Aston Martin Cygnet to be an Aston for the People. Sort of.

The ‘Sort of’ relates to the price. Buy a Toyota iQ from Toyota and it’ll cost you around £12k. Opt to get an Aston-ised version from Gaydon – certainly in the Aston Martin Cygnet Launch Edition – and you’ll be paying £40k. The same sort of money you could pay for an early DB9 or V8 Vantage.

If you do decide that £40k is a very fair deal for a limited edition Cygnet, what’s on offer? Well, there’s a choice of two Cygnet launch editions- Black or White. You won’t be shocked to learn one is Swan White and the other Magic Black, with bright chrome or matt black. And the inside of the Swan White car is…white. We’ll leave you to guess the interior colour of the black car.

The main shouting point for the Cygnet launch editions seems to be the Bill Amberg five-piece luggage set. The black leather set comprises a glove box bag, removable door pocket bag, holdall, garment bag and a collapsible tote bag. Beyond that we’re struggling to see anything else bespoke for the Cygnet.

Despite a paint job and a luggage set seemingly the only things to set the Launch Editions out, Aston Martin has still managed to sent us a 1250 word press release on the Cygnet Launch Editions. Read it if you must.

And if you don’t think £40k is enough to spend on an Aston Martin, we are assured you can spend far more if you but ask.
