Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II - sold for £1.23 million

The continuation of the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato – the Sanction II cars – hits a new price peak of £1.23 million at Bonhams Aston Martin Sale.

Last month we reported that one of just four Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II Coupés was up for grabs at Bonhams Aston Martin Sale at Newport Pagnell and expected to make £1.2 million. It made almost exactly that – £1.23 million, a new record in auction for a Sanction II car and a record sale at Newport Pagnell.

Held in the newly relaunched Aston Martin facility in Newport Pagnell, the Bonhams Aston Martin Works sale made £6.5 million in front of an audience of 2,000 Aston martin lovers and bidders and, although the highlight was the DB4GT Zagato Sanction II and there was plenty of affordable souvenir sales, there were other car highlights too.

Perhaps one of the most interesting was a 1971 Aston Martin DBS Shooting Brake ordered by a Scottish Laird to go go salmon fishing, which was expected to fetch £50k, going under the hammer for an impressive £345k to much cheering from the room.

Also sold was a 1994 Aston Martin Virage Volante – once the property of the Prince of Wales – which went for £122k and a 1994 Aston Martin Virage Limited Edition Coupe – once owned by Lennox Lewis – which went for a far sorrier £18,290.

But it was the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II that was the star, and rightly so.
