Aston Martin reveals the production version of the V12 Zagato

The Aston Martin V12 Zagato Production Car

We’ve had lots of Aston Martin V12 Zagato goodness over the last few months, from the first showing at Villa d’Este all the way up to the revealation (as if there was any doubt) that the V12 Zagato would go in to limited production.

But so far all we’ve really has is the track version of the Zagato.

Even at the V12 Zagato’s reveal at Villa d’Este it was still the track version – just without its great big back wing. And the wing got bolted back on to Zig as it joined Zag and went out to play at the Nurburgring after Villa d’Este.

But now Aston Martin has taken Zag back to the factory and turned it in to a road car once more in preparation for the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, where it will join Zig – which is still in full race livery.

So we’ll get to see the dark side of the V12 Vantage as well as the refined, production car version at Frankfurt. Sort of.

Sort of, because it appears Aston Martin has yet to decide what the interior of the V12 Zagato is going to offer, and Zag will still be sporting the Spartan race interior it did at Villa d’Este in the Spring. Which is a bit of a disappointment.

Will Aston Martin be giving the V12 Zagato the same interior as the V12 Vantage, or will they take the One-77 as the template and give buyers – buyers who will, let’s not forget, be paying three time the price of the V12 Vantage for a Zagato makeover – something rather more bespoke?

Both the V12 Zagatos – Zig and Zag – will be on Aston Martin’s stand at Frankfurt, together with the One-77 and Aston Martin’s newest production cars, the Virage and Vantage S.

And just as a reminder, there will be a maximum of 150 Aston Martin V12 Zagatos built and each will cost from £330k (+VAT). All will be built by CPP and production will start as soon as all the One-77s are finished.
