The Audi Q5 Hybrid gets revealed on the quiet

I know, you’re thinking that Audi has decided to get some spoiler photos and powerplant details on the Audi Q5 Hybrid out in the open ahead of the Los Angeles Motor Show to spoil the normal leaks on a new model. But no, it’s a bit more peculiar than that.

For some reason – and without fanfare or announcement – Audi has added details of the Q5 Hybrid to its websites. And not just in the UK. As far as we can see the information on the Q5 Hybrid has turned up across most of Audi’s national sites. But no official word or release has come our way.

Still, let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth. We’ve grabbed the photo at the top and the video below and some detail on what’s on offer in the Q5 Hybrid.

Visually there seems to be little changed except for some new wheels which may – or may not – feature the eco-favourite low rolling resistance tyres. Inside seems pretty much the same too, although there is a revised dash display with details on what’s going on with the hybrid gubbins.

Power on offer comes from a combination of a 2.0 litre TFSI lump producing 208bhp and a 33kW electric motor which kicks in an additional 44bhp. Acceleration is brisk at 7.1 seconds 0-62mph and a top speed just shy of 140mph. You can also enter an acceleration-limited milk float electric only mode for just short of two miles.

Which is all we have for now. Although it’s hard to believe that Audi won’t be sending us a pile of bumph very shortly.
