Audi RS6 Avant makes £120,000 for Elton John Charity

Audi has a history of donating cars for auction at Elton John’s annual White Tie & Tiara Ball, and this year it was an RS6 Avant. But it wasn’t just any old Audi RS6 Avant, it was an RS6 with an interior signed by Audi-driving Hollywood start Gwyneth Paltrow.

The uncharitable might consider that having Gwyneth scribble on the inside would denude the value of Audi’s most powerful car, but the RS6 Avant ended up fetching £120,000, 50 per cent more than it would have cost if the winning bidder had popped in to his (or her) local Audi dealer.

The whole proceeds from the Audi sale go directly to the EJAF, and the entire evening, held at Elton’s house, yielded a total of £3 million for Elton’s foundation, and was attended by a better than Z-list of celebs with pockets deep enough to make the whole event a very profitable one.

Audi said of the event and their donation:

Audi is delighted to donate the unique RS 6 Avant for the equally unique White Tie & Tiara Ball. We are thrilled at the benefit it will give to Sir Elton’s AIDS Foundation, which does such outstanding charity work, and very proud to be continued sponsors of the Ball.

And the good Mr Dwight remembered his manners and said:

I would like to extend my thanks to Audi for supporting the Elton John White Tie & Tiara Ball for the last 11 years, and for its generosity to the evening’s fundraising.

Good publicity for Audi and a good result for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Everyone a winner.
