Audi celebrates 500,000th TT with special edition

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Audi is celebrating its 500,000th TT sport compact with a new special edition, based on the upgraded Audi TTS. Only 500 examples of the TTS competition will be built, and will begin rolling off the assembly line in October. Unfortunately Audi will only sell the exclusive cars across the pond.

The limited edition TTS will be offered in a choice of two colors, Imola yellow and Nimbus gray. Visually it will be distinguished by its fixed rear wing with matte gray supports. Both coupe and roadster models will be offered, with soft tops in black or gray. The 19-inch wheels are wrapped in low-profile 225/35 tires, while embossed aluminum badges will denote the number out of 500.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 272 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed S tronic automatic is offered along with a six-speed manual. With the S tronic the TT competition will go from 0-to-60 mph in 5.3 seconds; slightly longer times are expected with the manual.

Inside, the TTS gets the Impulse leather seats in steel gray with yellow accents. A leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel gets a more strongly contoured rim while xenon headlights and magnetic dampers carry over from the standard TTS.

The TTS Coupe in the U.K. costs 35,905 euros, the limited edition package costs 1,900 euros on top of that. Converted to dollars it would come out to about $58,900, but it's all moot. We won't see the car here.
