Audi reveals A7 and S7 redesign for Europe

Mon, 26 May 2014

Audi revealed the redesigned A7 and S7 luxury fastback sedans in Europe on Friday. The cars get a sharper look all around and a revised powertrain lineup.

The A7/S7 now has a single-frame grille, new bumpers, tailpipes and headlights. LEDs are standard; the new Matrix LEDs are optional.

Inside, the new A7 delivers 18.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up, and 49.1 when they're folded down. The cabin has a horizontal line that surrounds driver and passenger, as well as new materials including aluminum, walnut wood and Valcona leather. There are four different seats to choose from: At the top of the line are heated, ventilated and massaging thrones. Audi's MMI is standard, while a heads-up display and a premium audio system are optional.

In Europe the A7 offers a choice of five engines, two gasoline-fed and three diesels. Power ranges from 218 hp to 333 hp. The S7 gets Audi's 4.0-liter turbo V8, making 450 hp with cylinder-on-demand, which cuts out four pots when applicable.

Audi Drive Select is standard. Dynamic steering, two sport suspension setups and an adaptive air suspension are all optional.

The new A7 and S7 go on sale in Europe late this summer, we'll see them here sometime after that. Audi priced the A7 at 51,300 euros and the S7 at 82,300 euros. Those prices come out to $70,000 and $112,000, but we expect the American versions to fall closer to their predecessors, probably around $65,000 and $80,000.
