Autoweek in review: What you might have missed

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

Happy New Year from all of us here at Autoweek -- we sincerely hope you enjoyed your year-end celebrations and had plenty of time to recuperate. Here's what you may have missed as you rang in 2013.

On New Year's Eve, we reviewed the stylish 2012 Range Rover Evoque coupe and 2012 BMW M6 convertible.

Tuesday -- New Year's Day -- was another quiet one here at Autoweek HQ. We took a look back at our top-12 videos of 2012 and cruised to Southern California for the Holiday Motor Excursion.

There was no shortage of pundits talking about the fiscal cliff on Wednesday, and we brought you news of a bit of dealing that benefited NASCAR to the tune of $70 million. There's more to it than that, so check out our full coverage. We also learned more about the 202-mph Bentley Continental GT Speed convertible, which we're looking forward to getting a closer look at during the Detroit auto show.

On Thursday, we took a moment to reflect on the life of College for Creative Studies provost Imre Molnar. His passion and personality will be greatly missed even as his legacy endures. In other news, we got a chance to put the 2014 Maserati Quattroporte through its paces, and found out which current cars the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety considers the safest.

We closed out a short work week with an early look at the redesigned 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-class coupe and cabriolet, both of which will officially debut at the Detroit auto show. If you're heading to the Motor City for the show, we've got you covered with a floor guide and -- of course -- complete coverage of the event at autoweek.com/Detroit.

We'll see you back on Monday. Over the weekend, don't miss another opportunity to descend into Project Car Hell, and take a few minutes to learn more than you ever wanted to know about the inner workings of the fluid coupling.
