BMW Vision Gran Turismo: Coming soon to a console near you

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

BMW's Vision Gran Turismo will be hitting TV screens across the world on 6 December as it joins the growing list of cars featured in the next Gran Turismo racing sim game for PlayStation.

The sports coupé was created using cues from BMW's racing experience while the aerodynamic elements were developed using the carmaker's knowledge from the racetrack. It looks like the lovechild of a 6-Series and one of automotive futurist Daniel Simon's creations – in a good way.

It will beef up BMW's portfolio within the game, which already features a number of current and classic models.

Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president BMW Group Design, explains, "Gran Turismo and BMW share a genetic passion for cars - both modern and classic.

"I've followed this racing game franchise from its beginnings and am extremely excited about the increased visual realism of Gran Turismo 6 and its incredibly authentic driving experience."

Kazunori Yamauchi, producer Gran Turismo, president Polyphony Digital and senior vice president Sony Computer Entertainment says, "I was really impressed by the amount of thought BMW put in, for not only surface features of a car but their consideration for internal structures and mechanical components as well. I have immense respect for what's been achieved here and am very much looking forward to the arrival of the BMW Vision Gran Turismo."

The latest in the 15-year-old highly rated series will treat car and gaming enthusiasts alike to around 1,200 vehicles to race on some of the world's most famous tracks.
