BMW X6 and 6-series get limited editions

BMW revealed two special edition 2013 models on Thursday: the X6 Performance Edition and 6-series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition. In 2011 the company did the same thing with the BMW M3 Frozen Black Edition.

The X6 Performance Edition can be considered an M light. Upgrades include the M Performance package that boosts power 15 hp and 30 lb-ft of torque for the xDrive35i and 40 hp and 30 lb-ft for the xDrive50i. The only paint color offered is pearl silver, which is accented by 20-inch Y-spoke wheels and black chrome exhaust tips.

Inside, the X6 Performance Edition has black Alcantara and leather with orange contrasting stitching. The dashboard and center console are finished with BMW's Individual Carbon Leather-Wrapped Trim. Options include the Premium package, Cold Weather package, Technology package, soft-close doors, running boards, satellite radio and a few other upgrades.

Only 50 copies each of the xDrive50i and the xDrive35i will be offered, at a cost of $81,695 and $92,895 respectively. Deliveries will start in mid-December.

The 2013 BMW 6-series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition will also be produced in limited numbers, with a total of 55 split between rear- and all-wheel-drive cars.

The Frozen Silver will wear BMW's matte silver paint with contrasting black mirror caps. Gray, 20-inch M-Performance wheels will sit at the corners. The M Sport package and Executive package also come with the Frozen Silver Edition.

The interior is trimmed in napa leather and gray poplar wood and the headliner is made of Alcantara. Other options include a power-rear sunshade, heads-up display, front ventilated seats, smartphone integration and BMW Apps. All-wheel-drive versions also feature the Cold Weather package.

The 2013 BMW 6-series Coupe and xDrive Coupe Frozen Silver edition will be available in mid-January. The rear-wheel-drive coupe costs $99,295 including destination while the all-wheel-drive model comes in at $102,695.
