BMW i Store in London previews new BMW i3 Concept

Wed, 13 Jun 2012

The first BMW i Store has opened in London’s Park Lane and previews a new version of the BMW i3 Concept fitted with BMW i Pedelec Concept bicycles.

Despite BMW appearing to go cool on their Project i, the first BMW i Store has opened in Park Lane, London.

Positioned alongside the BMW Park Lane and MINI Park Lane Showrooms, the BMW i Park Lane Showroom has been opened to help car buyers get a better idea of what BMW i cars are all about ahead of the launch of the i3. BMW say London was chosen for the first i Store as it’s Europe’s only Megacity and has huge influence as a global trend-setter. Quite a compliment from the Germans.

On show is a new version of the BMW i3 Concept, this time with what appears to be a full production interior and a new colour scheme, but still with the see-through doors which are unlikely to make production.

In the boot of the i3, BMW has fitted a pair of  BMW i Pedelec Concept bicycles as a way of ramming home the whole eco urban mobility idea. The bikes get an electric motor that makes pedalling a lot easier for blatting round the parts of London your i3 can’t reach, and they fold up and fit in the boot fo the I3 and even get recharged in situ.

The new BMW i Store in Park Lane will be open to the public from 25th July and feature the i3, the i8 and anything and everything ‘i’ BMW can conceive.
