The Bentley Mulsanne Mulliner Driving Specification debuts at Geneva

Bentley are adding a predictable sporty touch to the Mulsanne by adding Mulliner bits to create the Bentley Mulsanne Mulliner Driving Specification. Debuts at Geneva.

It may not be quite a Mulliner Speed, but for now the new Bentley Mulsanne Mulliner Driving Specification offering from Crewe is as close as you’re going to get to a ‘Sporty’ Mulsanne.

Bentley are obviously looking for a slightly younger demographic for the Mulsanne Mulliner by throwing the traditional Mulliner goodies at their range topper. And that’s probably sensible; after all, the Mulsanne really takes over where the Arnage left off – Bentley traditionalists who won’t countenance a ‘VW’ Bentley, no matter how good it is.

Under the bonnet lies the same 550bhp 6¾ litre V8 (always 6¾, not 6.75 – this is Bentley. Although maybe the person who wrote the press release didn’t know that?) which offers brisk progress to 62mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 184mph. But Bentley has added a ‘Sport’ setting to the Mulsanne Mulliner which Bentley tell us improves grip, body control and steering without hurting comfort.

There are the expected cosmetic tweaks to single out the Mulliner from the regular Mulsanne, with 21″ alloys that get race-derived titanium fasteners and a choice of painted or polished finishes. You can opt for Bentley’s self-leveling centre caps and there are Mulliner bits engraved on the front wing vents.

Inside there’s the required quilted Mulliner hide abounding, with indented leather on the headlining, drilled pedals and Mulliner treadplates on the sills.

The Bentley Mulsanne Mulliner Driving Specification will get a public reveal at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and so far Bentley hasn’t told us how much the Mulsanne Mulliner will cost. We’ll update when they do.
