Black Widow's Corvette Stingray debuts at Captain America premiere

Tue, 18 Mar 2014

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” comes out in U.S. theaters on April 4. It's the ninth movie in the modern “Avengers” series, and the second for hero Captain America.

The Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, will also star in the film with a very special Chevy Corvette Stingray. The Black Widow is a spy who partners with Captain America to uncover a plot involving a member of SHIELD, the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, and the Winter Soldier.

There are a ton of Chevys in the movie, including the 'Vette, a Volt and Captain America driving a Silverado 1500. Anthony Mackie, who assumes the role of Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, is seen in the film driving a 2014 Impala.

We have some video of the red carpet premiere, where we get a great look at the black on black Corvette. Unfortunately Johansson talks about jamming the radio in between takes, and not busting smoky donuts in the studio lots like we imagine. She does, however, claim that the movie features one of the best car chases ever shot. Bold words.

Steve Tihanyi, GM Entertainment marketing director, talked about everything going on in television and cable, and the challenges of getting Chevy's message to buyers.

“Film placement gives us a wonderful opportunity to build our brand in a unique way,” he said. “Being able to attach that car to a character like the Black Widow who's very smart, intelligent, sophisticated and sexy, it's a perfect match for us in the film.”
