Brumos Porsche to honor Hurley Haywood with special-edition Carrera GTS

Thu, 18 Aug 2011

Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, Fla., parent of Brumos Racing, confirmed the production and imminent delivery of five factory-built 911 Carrera GTS B59 Edition coupes that pay homage to driver Hurley Haywood--five-time winner of the Daytona 24-hour race.

The exclusive Porsches will carry a sticker price of $133,540.

The 408-hp coupes, based on the GTS, will have the Brumos red-and-blue stripe design for the front hood and rear deck, Porsche door decals, 19-inch sport classic wheels, limitation badges and Carrera White accents and door-entry guards with HHaywood's engraved signature.

Haywood, driving Porsches, won at Le Mans in 1977, 1983 and 1994; at Daytona five times, and the 12 Hours of Sebring twice. He is the chief driving instructor for the Porsche Sport Driving School in Birmingham, Ala.

"It is an honor and a pleasure to be involved so closely with the Porsche factory in Germany and here in the States during the creation of these special 911s, the last of the popular 997 model line and a fitting tribute to Hurley," said Ray Shaffer, Brumos Porsche general manager.

The B59 will get the normal Porsche options such as the Sport Chrono package, sports suspension, Bose stereo and other bits and pieces.

For the price, each B59 comes with a factory-produced photo book. The coffee-table-style book holds the history and pedigree of the special edition.
