Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu unveiled at Pebble Beach

Bugatti has inveiled the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu at Pebble Beach

But Bugatti has brought something new. Sort of new, anyway. It’s yet another Bugatti Veyron special edition. The only difference this time is that it’s actually a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Special Edition – The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu.

This is a special edition in the mould of the Pur Sang. It doesn’t bother with paint, instead it has aluminium and carbon fibre. But the carbon fibre is actually tinted Royal Blue instead of being painted. So at least if you scrape your nice new Bugatti it will be the same colour underneath.

In addition to the unique aluminium and carbon fibre body, the only differences between the Sang Bleu and the regular Grand Sport are a set of wheels in Diamond Cut and Midnight Blue and a body-coloured rear air scoop.

But Bugatti doesn’t actually say the Sang Bleu is being produced. Or in what numbers. But then Bugatti has slowed production of late to just half the rate they were managing. The ‘Economy’ has an impact even at this level, and orders are slower than they were. There are but but handful of Grand Sports in the wild and- with only one car every eight weeks or so being made – they aren’t exactly flying off the production line.

But Bugatti has no interest in price cutting to sell more cars. It would much rather adjust production to meet orders. So you’ll still have to wait an eternity if you want to order one, rather than being able to pick up a ‘Bargain’ caused by over production. Which does make sense for the ultimate ‘Halo’ car. It protects the brand and maintains the value of used cars.

And bargain priced Bugatti Veyrons would wreck the carefully marketed credentials of ‘The Best Car in the World’.
