Bugatti Veyron Hire – only £16k a day!

Wed, 10 Jun 2009

Fancy driving a Veyron for the day? That'll be £16k!

Or you could toddle off to Jack Barclay in London and see if they’ll let you borrow their new Bugatti Veyron L’Edition Centenaire for the weekend. Not sure that will be any easier though, unless you’re adept at passing yourself off as Roman Amasorich or Sheik Yamoney But there is another option.

Holders Vehicle Contracts in Reading are offering the Bugatti Veyron for hire at an eye-watering £16k a day. Plus £100k deposit. Now assuming they only hire it out for one day a week, and factoring the horrendous cost of insuring every Tom, Dick and Harry to drive it, it would take around 16 months to recover the outlay. Of course, they could have picked up a used one for around £700k, in which case they would see the Veyron paid for in around 10 months. Not bad business.

Of course, we’re being a little unfair. The maintenance costs won’t be small, and they may only rent it out for one day a month. Still, sounds like a business plan – as long as the punters come flocking.

But actually, it’s even better business if you don’t own the car in the first place. What about if you are fronting the car for a private owner who wants to off-set some of the cost of buying the car, and you get a percentage? No outlay. Good publicity. No downside. Sounds good to us. And if our sources are to be believed, that’s the setup. Good on ‘em.

Sadly, Bugatti hasn’t yet invited Cars UK to drive a Bugatti on their test track, and we can’t justify £16k to go and play for a day, let alone stumping up a £100k deposit.

Oh, well.
