Chips Away’s new APP removes dents in cars

The car news on April 1st always includes a chunk of April Fools, and this year is no different with some good, some bad and some quite lame. The people that take the everyday knocks out of your car at home – Chips Away – have come up with a DentsAway App – in conjunction with ALA – that will uses a Smartphone’s electro-magnetic pulses to ionise the metal on a car dent and pull it back in to shape.

Chips Away and ALA have used their April 1st announcement as the chance for a giveway, with three winners getting a pair of tickets for the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year if they share the video (below) on Facebook or Twitter. Top marks for effort.

BMW are playing too and say they have developed a new ‘Force Injection Booster’ which uses kinetic energy to create positive g-forces even when you’re driving your BMW in slow city traffic, with a blast of force coming through the air vents and a small electric current through the front seats so it feels like you’re blatting along. There’s also ‘AirNet’ tech to protect your barnet.

Peugeot’s effort this year is a horn individualisation program for cars with Audio Sonic technology which will be standard on cars and offer the cusomisation of horn sounds to suit the driver.Peugeot hopes to create a rainbow of individual sounds for cars.

MINI are in on the act too with the Paceman GoalCooper, based on the MINI JCW, which comes interior floodlights and astro turf floor mats, a miniature table football game and a goal net when the back seats are folded down. It’s MINI’s perfect special edition for this year’s World Cup.

There’s also a MINI T, a MINI that is powered by tea-leaf bio-fuel and comes in a variety of colours including Chamomile Yellow, Red Bush and Earl Grey and comes with Dunk Avoidance Technology which stops you dunking your biscuits in the fuel tank.

The only trouble with MINI is that reality is never far away from spoof.

Vauxhall has also come up with a Worl Cup car in the Astra Copacabana which gets the Brazilian flag on its roof, palm trees and dancing lines down the side, an interior with original grass from the famous Maracanã Stadium and can get from 0-62mph in 2.6 seconds.

Skoda have come up with the Yeti Ice, a special edition Yeti that comes with a faux fur finish specially developed to work in the Himalayas, with Skoda’s residence expert – Dr Yu Ciddingme –  saying the fur coating on the Yeti CIe is so good you won’t need the heater even in the Himalayas.

HPI are offering a lie-detector function in their HPI Check App which will be able use voice biometrics, speech coding and pattern matching to see if the seller of a car is telling you porkies when you’re getting tempted by a secondhand buy.

Finally, unless we update with more later, you can get a Citroen C4 Cactus Edition which will come in  red, blue and gold – Arsenal colours -  be limited to just 11 examples and won’t be sold in Tottenham.
