Car Design of the Year Awards 2006

Wed, 10 Jan 2007

Only four more days until the contest closes!

Make sure you get your vote in for the Car Design of the Year 2006.

Here's a way to blow away those holiday hangovers before getting too drawn into 2007. For the next four days Car Design News is asking its readers to vote for their favourite car designs from the last twelve months. As part of our Reader Survey last year, we asked Car Design News readers to vote for their favourite current production car design. The response produced some fascinating results, with the Aston Martin V8 Vantage being voted the clear favourite from over a thousand responses. While other 'Best Design' contests are largely made up of votes from journalists, the voters for this survey will be comprised mostly of automotive designers and students of car design.

This year, we will extend the readers' voting by having two separate categories for cars that debuted in 2006: one for concept designs and one for production designs.

Nominations for the Concept Design of the Year for 2006 are:

Chevrolet Camaro  Citroen C-Metisse Dodge Challenger Ford Reflex Hyundai HCD-10 Hellion Mazda Nagare Mitsubishi EZ Nissan Urge Renault Altica Saab Aero X

Nominations for the Production Design of the Year for 2006 are:

Alfa Romeo 8C Audi R8 Citroen C4 Picasso Ferrari 599GTB Ford Edge  Ford S-Max Nissan Qashqai Nissan Skyline Skoda Roomster Volvo C30

You can check out more on all of these cars by looking at the relevant auto show coverage from 2006.  In addition, we've covered most of the cars in our Design Review or Design Development stories - you can find these in-depth reports under the relevant tabs on the homepage navbar.

Readers can vote just one time each so to be sure you get your say, vote now online...

(Voting is now closed)

We'll also be inviting a number of leading design chiefs to vote for their own favourite concepts and production cars too, so we can compare your responses with those 'experts'.

We'll publish the results later on this month: watch out for the story and vote online over the next four days for your favourite nominated design.
