Carfest dates announced for 2014

CHRIS EVANS has announced his popular Carefest shows will take place again in 2014, with dates confirmed as 1-3 August and 22-24 August.

Hosted by the car-loving Radio 2 DJ, Carfest North on 1-3 August will be held at Oulton Park racing circuit in Cheshire. Three weeks later, Carfest South will take place at Laverstoke Park in Hampshire, owned by former Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, on 22-24 August.

As well as an amazing array of cars, the Carfest shows will also have an eclectic mix of music for visitors to listen to. Already confirmed for the shows are Erasure and Seasick Steve. A full list of performers will be announced closer to the events.

The two Carfest shows help raise money for Children in Need and have so far made more than £2 million for the charity.

Chris Evans said: "It's onwards and upwards for CarFest. To date we've had some absolutely brilliant fun and raised more than two million pounds for BBC Children in Need. How could we not do it all over again in 2014?

"I promise you that CarFest will be even bigger and even more fun than ever before. Don't ask me how we’re going to top what we've already achieved but, believe me, we will. There'll be more great bands, more fantastic cars, more fabulous food, more unbelievable air displays, more terrific sideshows… more of everything, in fact. It gets me all excited just talking about – I already can't wait for the gates to open at Oulton Park next August. I just want to be there now!"
