Chevrolet City Express priced at $22,950

Fri, 02 May 2014

Chevrolet has released pricing for the 2015 City Express urban work van, which debuted at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show just a couple months ago. The van is Chevy's answer to the Ford Transit Connect, and is actually based on the Nissan NV200.

The Chevrolet City Express will start at $22,950 when it goes on sale in early fall, and will be powered by a 2.0-liter dual-overhead cam inline-four making 131 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. The figure that perhaps matters more is the 122.7 cubic feet of customizable cargo space in its cavernous interior, coupled with an estimated payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. The City Express will also boast a 36.7-foot turning radius, which is crucial for easy maneuvering in tight urban locales.

Dual sliding rear doors will be standard on the base LS model, as will power windows, 40/60 split rear cargo doors that open 90 and 180 degrees, and solid rear doors with available tinted-glass windows. The City Express will also feature a fold-down mobile workspace passenger seat, a total of 20 interior cargo-mounting points, six floor-mounted D-rings for tying down cargo, and six exterior roof rack mounting points. The City Express will also feature vinyl flooring, a 12-volt power outlet, a 150-amp alternator, and a center console with a standard file folder bin.

The more extensively equipped LT model will start at $24,510, and will offer cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and backup sensors. Power-adjustable and heated outside mirrors and remote keyless entry with an automatic locking feature will also be standard in LT trim. Buyers who choose the LT trim will also get the option of a 5.8-inch diagonal touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, a USB port and a rearview camera system.
