Chevrolet touts Corvette 427 convertible with race driver Tommy Milner

Wed, 15 Feb 2012

The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 convertible doesn't need any hype--the 505-hp V8, a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed in excess of 190 mph make a strong statement.

Nonetheless, Chevrolet has enlisted the help of Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner in a trio of 90-second videos to tout the 427 convertible.

In our favorite, Milner talks about the car's aerodynamics, including the optional carbon-fiber splitter, that help keep the car glued to the ground for better control.

In the other videos, Milner gives a graphic demonstration of the Corvette 427's lightweight carbon-fiber hood and runs down the key performance aspects of the car.

Of course, all of this comes with some racy track footage at Virginia International Raceway.

The Corvette 427 convertible goes on sale this summer as Chevy celebrates the Corvette's 60th anniversary for the 2013 model year--also the last year for the sixth generation of the car. The 427 convertible builds on the Grand Sport convertible by adding the 7.0-liter V8 and a six-speed manual transmission from the Z06 model.
