2012 Citroen C1 Facelift

Citroen has given the C1 a facelift for 2012 to match the one given to the Peugeot 107, with better economy and emissions and cosmetic tweaks.

The 2012 Citroen C1 Facelift pretty much follows the same pattern as sister PSA sibling the 2012 Peugeot 107, with tweaks to improve emissions and economy and some cosmetic updates to keep things fresh.

The updates to the C1′s 3-cylinder 1.0 litre ptrol engine has resulted in economy improving to 65.7mpg and emissions dropping below the magic 100g/km (yep, they are a very unsurprising 99g/km. Do you wonder just how easy these emissions test are to game too?).

You can, if you really want to, take your new C12 with Citroen’s Electronic Gearbox System (EGS), and if you do you’ll get a bit less to the gallon (62.8mpg) and emit a bit more Co2 (104g/km). You will also get a new steering wheel with flappy paddles to make up for your C1 being slower and less parsimonious than a manual.

Cosmetic tweaks are much like the new 107, with a new front bumper,, a set of pretty LEDs (just so people know you’ve got the 2012 C1) and new 14″ ‘Notus’ wheels on the standard C1 and ‘Rift’ 14″ alloys on the posh versions, together with new chevrons and badging. The manual cars get a new gear stick and most C1s get the new ‘Orsai’ upholstery, with basic models making do with Mistral ‘Nokimat’ cloth.

Under the skin Citroen has given the 2012 C1 new power steering and shock absorber settings which, Citroen say, make for more agility and a better ride, plus extra safety stuff like ABS with Brakeforce Distribution, ESP and Isofix anchorage points. There’s also a new ‘Connecting Box’ which comes with Bluetooth, USB and jack connections and the ability to read all MP3 formats.

The new 2012 Citroen C1 Facelift will make its debut at the Brussels Motor Show next week and, we expect, arrive in UK showrooms in February.
