Citroen DS3 R3 - in action on Goodwood's Rally Stage

We’ve already had a wave of Goodwood Festival of Speed announcements on cars getting their UK debut, from the Jaguar XKR-S to the Mugen Honda CR-Z. And now it’s Citroen’s turn for a few debut announcements.

Probably the most significant is the first public viewing in the UK of the next iteration in the DS range – the Citroen DS4, which was actually revealed almost a year ago.

Wider and shorter than the C4 on which it’s based, the DS4 promises a more dynamic experience than the C4, and a significantly more upmarket interior to boot. And if it comes close to emulating the DS3 it will be a runaway success.

Also on offer is the Citroen Survolt, an electric sports car concept Citroen rolled out at Geneva last year. It’s done the rounds since then but, despite a suggestion it could turn in to the DS Roadster, it’s not progressed beyond a concept. Which is a shame. Give it a decent petrol – or even diesel – lump and it would be a great little niche car.

Also on offer from Citroen is the DS3 R3 Rally Car which provides a “…stepping stone to top-flight competition for young drivers aspiring to follow in the footsteps of Citroën’s Sèbastien Loeb”. And it will be playing on Goodwood’s Rally Stage.

Citroen will also be in attendance the day before the FoS kicks of, at the Moving Motor Show where Goodwood visitors will be able to drive the DS4 and  DS3 Racing up the hillclimb, and take a look at static displays of the Citroen Hypnos and the 300bhp DS3 WRC car.

A Goodwood Citroen-Fest.
