Mon, 12 Mar 2012

The 2012 Citroën Creative Awards presentation ceremony was held last week, with ten prize winners receiving awards for their submissions in a global competition.

The contest, which attracted over 800 entries from 87 different countries, was organized into three main categories, in which both experienced and amateur designers were encouraged to take part in.

Wouter Van Vugt, a Dutch graphic designer, for his entry ‘Junior Driver', won the ‘Ideas Contest', which focused on the traveling comfort of future Citroën cars. He created a 3D simulator enabling children to drive ‘live' and compare their own driving to that of the driver.

In second place was ‘Citroën Baby Care' by Arnaud Tilmant, a Belgian vehicle expert, which created a travel pack for babies including things such as a musical mobile and bottle heater that was able to be fitted to the car. In third place was Damien Mesgard's "Cocöön', which transformed the car into a spa featuring massages.

In the ‘Video Contest', ‘Audace' by François Ladevie, a French designer, came in first position, followed by ‘Creative Lines' by Mariano Fain, an Argentinean TV producer. In third place was ‘Funky Lab' by Ognyan Bozhilov, a Bulgarian designer. All the videos can be viewed on the Citroën Video Contest page.

The ‘Style Contest' was won by Russian Natalya Zhirkova with her design ‘Temptation'. In second was ‘Perspective' by William Law, a French fashion student. Third place was a tie between '3-D-Style' by Mounir Chelgham, an Algerian student, and ‘DS3-BE' by Jay Uh, a US student.

Marc Duval-Destin, Director of Research and Advanced Engineering at the PSA Peugeot Citroën, presided over a diverse judging panel. Among them were; Iain Percy, two-time Olympic gold medal winning British yachtsman; Xu Qun, Chief Editor of Car and Driver China; Carlo Antonelli, Director of Wired Italia; Augustin Paluel Marmont, co-founder of the Michel et Augustin food brand; Fernando Calmon, Brazilian motoring journalist; Xavier Duchemin, Director of Marketing and Communication at Citroën; Thierry Metroz, Style Director at Citroën; and Thomas d'Haussy, Product Director at Citroën.
