Dany Bahar’s restored V8 Lotus Esprit for sale

Thu, 23 Aug 2012

With Dany Bahar now ousted as Lotus boss, his fully restored 2002 V8 Lotus Esprit is up for sale.

When Dany Bahar joined Lotus from Ferrari, he brought with him some grandiose plans – and an ability to spend money – that were ultimately his undoing.

And it appears Bahar was a bit too grand to run around in any of Lotus’s current models as ambassador for the brand, instead deciding the way to go was a fully restored version of the last Lotus supercar – the Lotus Esprit.

So Lotus got to work on a low mileage 2002 Lotus Esprit V8 to make it fit for Bahar’s image of himself. They rebuilt the engine and gearbox, fitted a custom leather and SuedeTex interior, a set of OZ Nova wheels, AP Racing front calipers and Brembos rears, a Sport350 ECM, a big back spoiler, round tail lights and a centre exit exhaust, finishing it all off with a new paint job in Pearlescent White.

All that work happened just 1,000 miles ago, and with Lotus keen to move on from the Bahar extravagance the Lotus Esprit is up for sale.

We have no price for the Esprit, but we’d guess somewhere around the £40k mark would be about right.
