Discovery Sport Finally Breaks Cover

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

LAND ROVER has taken the wraps off its much-anticipated replacement for its current Freelander model. Called the Discovery Sport, the Brit premium car maker has decided to move its once entry-level 4x4 upmarket.

Boasting styling cues inside and out from the Evoque and Range Rover Sport, the Discovery Sport is said to be more of an all-rounder than the Freelander, thanks to an increased focus on cabin space and versatility due to the inclusion of a third row of seats.

Elsewhere, the Discovery Sport will be available with Land Rover’s now family array of electronic off-road and stability modes, plus a high standard of infotainment options.

At launch the car will come with a 190 horsepower diesel engine and all-wheel drive, with an eco-friendly two-wheel drive diesel variant boasting 119g/km CO2 scheduled to appear later in 2015.

Expected in showrooms in January 2015, prices for the Discovery Sport will start at £32,395, with the low CO2 model likely to slip under the £30,000 barrier.
