Jaguar E-type specialist Eagle has unveiled the Eagle E-type speedster at the Salon Privé prestige motor show in London. The speedster, commissioned by enthusiast Dr Rick Velaj, uses a standard 1966 E-type as its base. Eagle then rebuilt it to a new sky-high specification, clad it in a one-off aluminium bodyshell, fitted it with its Supersport options (stiffer suspension, uprated brakes and modern tyres) and strapped in its own highly developed 4.7-litre straight six.

What an engine it is, too. The tuned Jaguar block develops 300bhp – a 50% increase over the standard E-type engine of the ’60’s – and 340lb ft of torque that comes in at around 1700rpm.

All this power in a car that weighs less than 1100kg translates to an estimated sub-5.0sec 0-60mph sprint and, if your goggles are strong enough, a top speed of around 175mph.

The Eagle E-type speedster is a one-off commission for now. It was designed to let Eagle show off just what its workshop is capable of. Ask nicely and they might build one for you – funds permitting, of course.
