Eterniti Motors sells first Eterniti Artemis at Beijing auto show

Mon, 14 May 2012

Eterniti Motors, which first showed us the Hemera super SUV concept in Frankfurt, then the production version--called the Artemis--in Beijing, sold its first car at the Chinese show.

The company took five orders for the Eterniti Artemis, four in standard specification and one bespoke version. The standard Artemis SUV costs $337,500, converted from British pounds.

The Artemis gets its power from a 4.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 producing more than 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Eterniti says the Artemis can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and can exceed 180 mph.

The interior of the standard version includes leather seats, natural wood veneers and piano black and carbon-fiber accents. The hand-built body panels are made of carbon composite, and 23-inch lightweight wheels are offered in a variety of styles.

Because of local customs, buyers in Beijing seek rear-seat luxury, space and amenities as much as front-seat technology. Eterniti says Artemis owners can be chauffeured if they like or take the wheel themselves. It offers twin reclining rear seats with both heating and cooling functions. The seats also come with iPad holders and a drinks chiller.

All five buyers are from China; however, Eterniti said it received interest from others in Italy, Spain, Austria and the United States.

The company plans to sell 30 to 40 cars this year, and with five already gone, Eterniti says it's well on its way.
