Family wins £10,000 Volkswagen from local garage

A HORSHAM family is gearing up for a memorable summer in the sunshine after beating thousands of motorists across the UK to win a Volkswagen car worth a cool £10,000.

James Bancroft and his family won the Bridgestone-led competition after driving in to his local Elite Garage on Brighton Road in Horsham for a new set of tyres.

Three weeks after James texted his details as part of the Bridgestone sales campaign, he was told that he’d beaten more than 2,000 fellow hopefuls across the UK to win a Volkswagen Up hatchback.

James, of Partridge Green, said: “When I was called up to be told of the good news, I thought someone was pulling my leg.”

“I initially thought this was another hoax PPI phone call but it turned out to be completely genuine and we had won this amazing prize!”

James might just be in the running for a husband of the year award too, after giving his wife Mel the Up's keys.

“Mel has done most of the miles in the new car and loves the way it drives. It is really fuel efficient and we feel very lucky to have won it,” he said.

The campaign ran nationally across a host of fast -it networks in the UK, including Elite Garages, Britannia Tyres, ETB, Watling Tyres, Universal Tyres, Savoy and Iverson Tyres.

Elite Garages’ owner Richard Whittemore said: “To be able to present the car from our Horsham garage means a lot to us.

“The campaign itself really stimulated sales and we all put a lot of effort into making it a success.

“To see the faces of the winning family is a highlight of our year and we hope to see them in the future, when the Volkswagen Up eventually needs a new set of tyres!”
