The Ferrari 599 GTO - video and configurator below

It’s hard not to love the Ferrari 599 GTO. Love it because of its power. Love it because it’s the car the 599 deserves to be. And love it because it still – in these climate-obsessed times – has a thumping great V12 and power aplenty.

The 599 GTO is pitched as the road-going 599xx – the car that Ferrari claimed a Nurburgring lap record with recently – and in many ways it is. Or at least it’s the love child of the 599XX and the regular 599. And on the face of it the 599 GTO deserves its GTO tag – only the third time in Ferrari’s history the Gran Turismo Omologato has been used.

Ferrari have endowed the 599 GTO with a 6.0 litre V12 with 670bhp and 457lb/ft or torque giving a 0-60mph of 3.35 seconds and a top speed of 208mph. The GTO generates 144kg of downforce at 120mph, gets a new front splitter diffuser and spoiler. Oh, and it even gets donuts on the wheels to help air flow.

So it’s a big grown-up Ferrari with huge cajones. And now you can see it being blatted round the Mugello Circuit by Ferrari test driver Dario Benuzzi. Which is worth the watch.

And once you’re all fired-up by the joy of the 599 GTO video you can hop over to Ferrari’s website and spec up your very own GTO on Ferrari’s 599 GTO Configurator.

It’s a lottery rollover this weekend.
