Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione

The latest version of the track special 599XX – the Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione – has made its track debut at Suzuka. Video and photos.

The Ferrari FXX was Ferrari’s track test bed creation for wealthy Ferrari owners willing to pay a sizeable chunk of money to blat round a track in the Enzo-based FXX, effectively playing with Ferrari’s latest developments heading in to road cars. Think of the FXX as race meets road, and the ultimate FXX as the FXX Evoluzione.

The original FXX programme was succeeded in 2009 by the 599XX, the same deal as the FXX but based on the Ferrari 599. And now the 599XX has evolved in to the 599XX Evoluuzione, with an upgrade package for the 599XX which includes a huge rear wing, bigger splitter at the front, an extra 30 horses and an extra two years of factory support. How much does the Evoluzione upgrade cost? Around the price of a new 599.

Having revealed the 599XX Evoluzione back in November, Ferrari has now had the new car out on track at Suzuka for the first time and we’ve got video of the outing.

It looks like Ferrari are expecting the 599XX Evoluzione to be the at the heart of its ‘XX’ programme for the next two years, but what will happen after that? Will Ferrari produce an F12XX to replace it – based on the new Ferrari F12 – or will they go back to the future with the new F70XX?

Whichever route they go it will be even more extreme than the 599XX Evoluzione.
