Ferrari FF: The Video

The Ferrari FF Video

Yesterday saw the first details of the replacement for the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti surface. We’d heard rumours – all revolving round a Shooting Brake Concept – but it was still a bit of a surprise to see the reality that is the Ferrari FF.

Ferrari seem intent on pushing the boundaries of what is an ‘acceptable’, and according to much of what’s been commented on the Interweb after Ferrari revealed the FF yesterday, they may have gone a step further than many would like. But we disagree.

The Shooting Brake is a noble route for Ferrari to follow for its flagship route. It also reached back in to Ferrari’s own history to the Ferrari ‘Breadvan’ – a one-off created by Bizzarrini and based on a 250 GTO SWB – although only in terms of design, not accommodation.

Historically, Ferrari’s four-seat cars have not been the most commodious creations on the planet, but this Shooting Brake FF does promise to offer proper accommodation for four and their luggage.

Not only does it promise proper accommodation and proper performance, Ferrari see it as offering their owners a proper alternative to a high-end 4WD Estate from Audi or even a Range Rover. Which seems a bit far fethched, but they actually do see the Ferrari FF as a car for all seasons - literally. They told us:

The [Ferrari FF] class-leading weight-to-power ratio of 2.7 kg/CV, along with its ideal weight distribution, ensures exceptionally responsive handling. The result is that owners will be able to enjoy the FF’s prowess over a wide range of uses: city driving, on low grip or snow-covered surfaces and on the track.

And they’ve sent us the development video below on the FF, which focuses more on its cold-weather prowess than anything else.

Perhaps we should consider the Ferrari FF as a Ferrari SUV?
