Ferrari FF: UK debut at Goodwood FoS

Ferrari FF - off to Goodwood

There has probably not been a car in Ferrari’s history that has polarised opinion in quite the same way as the Ferrari FF.

Launched at Geneva in the Spring, it is the first ever four wheel drive Ferrari but, perhaps more importantly, it’s a ‘Shooting Brake’. Not a traditional Ferrari design, by any stretch.

At the route if the Ferrari FF is the desire by Ferrari to compete with the ever growing ranges offered by other car makers, but without going down the SUV route. The FF is a good compromise.

It offers proper seating for four, good traction in poor conditions from its 4WD – although precious little ground clearance - and it’s all wrapped up in something that does look good and has 660bhp of Ferrari V12 at its disposal.

That V12 with its 660bhp is enough to send the four seat Ferrari FF at the horizon in a very Ferrari way, with 62mph coming up in 3.7 seconds, making the FF perhaps the quickest Estate you can buy.

But there’s no substitute for seeing a car in the flesh to make your mind up, and if you’re following every other real petrolhead to the Goodwood Estate in a few weeks you’ll be able to judge for your self whether the FF is a triumph or a disaster.

Ferrari are taking the FF to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, together with the 458 Italia and the California. Both the 458 Italia and the Californai will be two-tone cars and Ferrari will also be taking the 2009 F1 car and a chunk of classic cars.

Yet more reasons to head to Goodwood FoS.
