Ferrari World Record at Silverstone Racing Days

Sun, 16 Sep 2012

Ferrari F1 driver Felipe Massa led a parade of 964 Ferraris to claim a new world record at Ferrari’s 2012 Racing Days at Silverstone.

Ferrari Racing Days have been back at Silverstone this weekend, for the first time in 5 years, and to celebrate the occasion Ferrari has managed to claim a new world record for the number of Ferraris on track at any one time.

When the last Ferrari Racing Days outing was at Silverstone, in 2007, Ferrari managed to garner 385 of Maranello’s finest to parade round Silverstone’s track for a new world record, but that record was broken later that year by Ferrari in Japan with 485 cars.

So with Silverstone beckoning again for 2012, Ferrari’s PR team in the UK have been busy coaxing and cajoling Ferrari owners to turn up with their pride and joy at Silverstone this weekend to help them reclaim the record.

The offer of being part of a new world record – and the promise of £5 to the automotive industry’s BEN charity for every Ferrari taking part – managed to attract 964 Ferraris to Silverstone for a new world record parade of Ferraris, led round Silverstone by Ferrari F1 driver Felipe Massa.

Marc Gene, who was at the Ferrari Racing Days as coach to the drivers in Ferrari’s F1 Clienti programmes, also took part in the parade.

Although the Ferrari record breaking parade lap was perhaps the headline act of the Silverstone weekend, there was also the chance to see all Ferrari’s newest toys, including the new F12, F1 Clienti, FXX, 599XX, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Ferrari Club Challenge.

All in one place and all for just £15 for a weekend ticket. Probably the best value Ferrari experience you’ll get, and a new world record too.
