Fiat Panda 4×4 & Panda Trekking: Price from £12,450

Fri, 14 Dec 2012

The 2013 Fiat Panda 4×4, revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, is now on sale from £13,95. It’s 2WD sibling – the Panda Trekking – costs from £12,450.

Not only is the Panda 4×4 so called because it has 4WD, but because Fiat want to shout loud and proud that this little shopping car really does have credible four wheel drive underpinnings – almost unheard of in this sector.

But when you want to produce a car that looks just like the Panda 4×4 but gets just front wheel drive, it’d look a bit silly to call it the Panda 4×4 FWD. So the 2WD version of the Panda 4×4 gets called the Panda Trekking. But why even bother producing the Trekking, when its raison d’etre has gone?

Still, the Panda 4×4 and Trekking have arrived in the UK and come with a raised ride height, aluminium skid plate (black on the Trekking), roof rails, bolted-on plastic bits for extra butchness and 15″ dark alloy wheels (lighter colour on the Trekking).

You can have either the 4×4 or Trekking with the fun little o.9 litre TwinAir or the 1.3 16v MultiJet engines, neither of which are enough to make the 4×4 or Trekking pocket-rockets, but they are up to the job.

The Panda 4×4 cost £13,950 with the TwinAir and £14,950 with the Multijet, and the Panda Trekking £12,450 with the TwinAir and £13,450 with the MultiJet. Frankly, if you like cars (and especially if you don’t do stellar mileage), pick the TwinAir, save your self £1,000, and have more fun.

The 2013 Fiat Panda 4×4 and Fiat Panda Trekking are now on sale.
