2012 Honda recalls:

--December 12, 2012 — Honda is recalling 318,000 Honda Odyssey minivans, 259,000 Honda Pilot SUVs from the 2003 and 2004 model years, and 230,000 Acura MDX luxury SUVs from the 2003 through 2006 model years. Honda said a malfunction in the ignition-interlock feature of these vehicles could allow the key to be removed from the ignition before the car in has been placed in “park.” All but 64,000 of affected vehicles were sold in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it had recorded 43 complaints from consumers, and Honda said two minor injuries have also been recorded. Honda said owners will get recall notices in February.

-- October 5, 2012 -- Honda is recalling certain model year 2002-2006 CR-V passenger vehicles, manufactured from February 19, 2002, through July 28, 2006 because the driver-side power window switch may fail or melt.

-- October 2, 2012 -- Honda expanded a recall of the Honda Accord and Acura TL sedans that now affects more than a half-million vehicles for a problem with hoses that connect the power steering. Honda says prolonged exposure to high temperatures could cause the power-steering hoses to crack and fluid to leak posing a fire risk. The recall affects 625,762 vehicles, from model years 2003 to 2008. The recalled Honda Accords were built from 2003 through 2007, and the Acura TLs came off the line in 2007 or 2008. The problem was first noted back in May. According to Honda, these repairs will not begin until 2013 due to low parts supply.

-- July 18, 2012 -- Honda issued a recall of approximately 166,000 2012 CR-Vs in order to replace front door latches and some front door handles. There is a chance the inner-door-handle release cable can become partially disengaged, keeping doors from latching properly and causing them to open unexpectedly.

-- March 23, 2012 -- Honda issued a recall of 1,316 model-year 2006 CR-Vs to inspect and replace the right-front lower control arm. An improper welding process could cause the control arm to break, affecting overall handling of the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

-- Feb. 23, 2012 -- Honda recalled almost 9,000 2012 Acura MDX and Honda Pilot SUVs for a defective part in the fuel-tank assembly. A component called the "vent shut float" doesn't meet the proper design specifications, which could result in a fuel leak.

-- Feb. 22, 2012 -- Honda announced the recall of 45,800 Odyssey minivans because the struts that activate the power tailgate are prone to fail, making it possible for the tailgate door to fall under its own weight. According to Honda, two injuries have been reported as a result of tailgate-strut failures so far.

-- Feb. 17, 2012 -- Honda added 627 Civic and Acura MDX vehicles, also of model year 2012, to the airbag recall above.

-- Jan. 31, 2012 -- Honda notified owners of 347 model-year 2012 Honda Accord and Crosstour vehicles of an improper mixture of airbag propellant in side-curtain airbags. According to Honda, improper propellant mixture could result in failure of the airbag to deploy when needed.
